Trusting God Amidst the Storm

Psalm 56:4 declares a powerful truth—placing our trust in God silences the fear of man. This verse is a proclamation of unwavering faith, a cry of absolute reliance on the Lord despite earthly threats and uncertainties. It is a reminder that no matter how dark this world becomes, no matter how corruption and wickedness seem to prevail, God’s Word is unshaken. The psalmist, David, spoke these words during a time of great distress when he was pursued by enemies who sought his destruction. Yet instead of crumbling in fear, he lifted his eyes to heaven and declared that he would not fear what man could do to him.

The Rotten World We Face

This world is riddled with deceit, greed, violence, and opposition to truth. Nations rage against righteousness, morality is discarded in favor of fleeting pleasures, and those who stand for God’s Word face mockery and persecution. We see injustice thriving, evil being praised, and corruption spreading like disease. The enemy works through systems of power, through ideologies designed to twist truth, through voices that tempt people away from God’s path. Temptations abound, dragging souls into rebellion against their Creator. The flesh, with all its weaknesses, fears, and desires, can easily be swayed in such an environment.

But Psalm 56:4 is a battle cry against fear. The world may be broken, but it does not dictate the fate of those who put their trust in God. No matter how fierce the storm, how hostile the opposition, the Word of the Lord stands firm. His promises remain, and His salvation is unshaken. We are called to cling to His truth, to trust in Him above all else, to fix our eyes on eternity instead of being consumed by the chaos of the present age.

The Eternal Reward

The trials we endure now will fade in the light of eternity. What is fleeting cannot compare to the everlasting. Scripture is clear that suffering for righteousness’ sake is temporary, but the reward for faithfulness is eternal. Paul writes in Romans 8:18, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” This world may threaten, it may strike, it may seek to shake our faith, but those who remain steadfast will receive the crown of life.

Jesus Himself warned that His followers would be persecuted, hated for His name’s sake, yet He promised that their endurance would lead to eternal victory. In Matthew 24:13, He declares, “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” The race set before us is difficult, requiring obedience, unwavering trust, and faith that does not waver. But every sacrifice made for Christ will be repaid in eternal joy.

Revelation 21:4 paints a beautiful picture of the future awaiting those who trust in Him: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” The pain, the fear, the trials—they will all be forgotten in the presence of our King. Our obedience now, our faithfulness despite the turmoil, will result in everlasting peace.

What fears have tried to take hold in your heart, and how can you replace them with unwavering trust in God’s Word?

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my refuge in the storm, my unwavering foundation in a chaotic world. I praise Your Word, Your truth that stands eternal, and I trust in You completely. May fear never rule over me, and may my heart always find courage in You. Strengthen me to walk in obedience, to endure through trials, and to fix my gaze on the promises of eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May you find peace in His Presence and strength in His promises. Keep running the race with faith, knowing the victory is already won.

“Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.” –Romans 12:15

 

When I see this verse from Romans 12:15- immediately the LORD comes to mind. He is the One that rejoices with us, and weeps with us as we go through life. He is the consummate Friend and Protector, and our Almighty Abba Father. And the One who is there for every single second of our lives here on earth, and if we are faithful servants and followers – He will be there when we join Him in Eternity.

Life is a series of ups and downs.  A virtual collection of gains and losses.  We have good times, and good seasons. Ostensibly, we have bad times, and bad seasons.

We can gather great gains. We can suffer great losses. And in all honestly and reality, we wouldn’t be living if these things didn’t occur.  Because LIFE happens to be constantly changing, it doesn’t remain stagnant. If it did – then something is amiss. Because as the water flows, so does life. It swirls, it babbles, it creates waves, it can be placid. So, too are our patterns in life. It is ever moving-ever changing-ever flowing!

If we are fortunate, we get to see many different aspects of life. Including major milestones!  Our first birthday!  Our sweet 16!  Entering adulthood – 21st birthday a major one for me!  Then, if we are blessed- marriage, children – careers.  And each decade after that, we are in celebration of our life- thanks to the One who made it all possible.

When I lost my dad – 26 years ago. I literally had trouble breathing, I felt like I was suffocating. Like I was moving in slow motion. Like a living nightmare I was unable to awaken from.  But – with my siblings, and my beautiful beloved mom, family and friends – I got through the tragic and untimely death of my dad.  But the ONE that held me up, the entire time?  You got it and guessed it correctly – the LORD!

And He, my LORD wept along with me. He reminded me that I would see my dad again, and that my dad was with Him in heaven. And it brough great relief and comfort to my soul. His Words, His promises, and His Presence all provided soothing balm for my aching broken heart. And anyone who suffered the loss of a parent(s) or a loved one in general – can all relate to that feeling of anguish.

When my mom passed away on another one of my “milestone birthdays” – I was unable to breathe once again…and yet again -the LORD gave me breath from His heart and His love – and got me through it.  I recognized mom going home to heaven on my birthday as a gift. She had “delivered me” that very day (all those years ago!) and the LORD “delivered her” back home to His arms. So, consequently I’ve come to think of it as a blessing and a gift from the LORD.  

So – the verse I started this post with from Romans – is vital to our existence as Christians. Because when you meditate upon it, you will understand and feel the significance of those very words.  Throughout our lifetime, there will always be moments we share with family, friends, colleagues, that all together comprise many components of humanity.  That is to say -sadness, happiness, gains, losses, and seasons of joy, and seasons of happiness. And at times, season of stillness.  The critically important thing in all of these moments is to remember, that our LORD is with us through it all!  And that is what matters. Because with HIM we can survive and go on.

When we cling to Him and hold His hand as He guides us throughout our lifetime and aspire to do all according to His will and purpose in our lives, we will be able to LIVE a LIFE worth LIVING!

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” —Acts 20:24

Paul’s words here encapsulate the essence of what it means to live a life fully surrendered to Christ. His mission was clear: to proclaim the gospel of grace regardless of trials, suffering, or even the cost of his own life. These words resonate as powerfully today as they did in Biblical times, calling Christians to reexamine how they prioritize their faith, their purpose, and their endurance in the journey of discipleship.

A Life That Cannot Be Moved

Paul faced great affliction, yet he was immovable. The threats against his life, the rejection, the persecution—none of it shook his resolve. In today’s world, believers face different challenges, but the spiritual principle remains the same: to walk unwaveringly in faith despite obstacles. Financial struggles, health concerns, societal pressures, and personal conflicts can all try to wear down our spiritual endurance. Yet Paul’s declaration serves as a guidepost: our lives are not defined by external challenges but by the unshakable foundation of Christ.

Consider Philippians 1:21: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Paul understood that his earthly life was but a tool for God’s work, not something to cling to for personal comfort or security. This perspective challenges Christians today to loosen their grip on personal ambitions that may conflict with the calling of God.

Joy in the Course

Paul’s statement also emphasizes joy—not just endurance or obligation, but true joy in fulfilling his mission. Serving God is not merely about perseverance but about experiencing deep, abiding joy in His presence and His work. Too often, believers see faithfulness as a burden when it should be the source of greatest joy. Psalm 16:11 reminds us, “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.”

We must ask ourselves: Do we treat Christian living as a duty or as the highest joy? Are our days spent in worship, service, and love with the same excitement that Paul expresses here?

The Ministry We Have Received

Paul was aware that his mission was given to him by the Lord, not self-initiated. Likewise, our faith is not a personal invention, but a Divine calling placed upon us. Christianity is not confined to church services or occasional acts of charity but is meant to saturate every second of our lives. Each moment, each breath, and each interaction is an opportunity to reflect Christ’s grace.

Let our testimonies be living reflections of Your mercy, and may our hearts remain steadfast until we reach the finish the line You have set before us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

God’s Presence Through Time

In Biblical days, these words of reassurance from Isaiah were spoken to the Israelites, a people often faced with battles, captivity, and trials that tested their faith. God promised to uphold them, providing strength in their weakest moments. Fast forward to today, and though our battles are different—sickness, loss, uncertainty, spiritual warfare—the promise remains steadfast. This verse reminds us that the same God who walked with His people through the wilderness, through exile, and through trials is the same God who walks with us now.

Supporting Scripture:

  • Malachi 3:6 – “For I am the Lord, I change not…”
  • Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”

God is unchanging, and so is His promise of strength and deliverance.

What It Means to Be a Christian Today

Being a Christian isn’t just about belief—it is about living a life surrendered to Christ, through good times and bad. In today’s world, we face moral dilemmas, spiritual battles, and challenges that test our faith. Some may question if God is truly near when pain and suffering seem unending. Yet, the Christian walk isn’t about a life free of hardship—it is about endurance, tenacity, and the assurance that God is our refuge.

Jesus taught perseverance:

  • John 16:33 – “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
  • Romans 5:3-4 – “Tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”

True faith isn’t just professed—it is lived. To be a follower of Christ means to hold onto His word, His promises, and His presence, even when the road is difficult.

The Armor of God – Our Strength to Forge Ahead

The world can be overwhelming, but God equips His people with tools for spiritual endurance. Ephesians 6:11-18 speaks of the armor of God, a powerful metaphor reminding us that faith is not passive—it requires action, vigilance, and preparation.

  • Helmet of Salvation – Guarding our thoughts, keeping our focus on Christ.
  • Breastplate of Righteousness – Walking in integrity, resisting temptation.
  • Shield of Faith – Blocking fear and doubt, trusting in His promises.
  • Sword of the Spirit – The Word of God, which strengthens and guides us.
  • Feet shod with the Gospel of Peace – Moving forward in faith, not retreating in fear.

Each piece of spiritual armor reinforces the truth in Isaiah 41:10—we do not stand alone. We stand equipped, strengthened, and upheld by the righteousness of God.

A Prayer for Strength and Tenacity

“LORD- In moments of weakness, remind me that I am never alone. Your presence is unwavering, Your love unfailing. Lord, strengthen me as I walk this journey of faith. When doubt creeps in, let Your Word be my anchor. When trials press upon me, uphold me with Your righteousness. Clothe me in Your armor, that I may stand firm against adversity. Help me forge ahead with tenacity, unwavering in my trust in You. Through every season, may I reflect the light of Christ, carrying the Gospel with boldness and humility. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

A Loving Tribute to the Lord

O Lord, Your love is beyond measure, stretching across the heavens and filling the earth with Your mercy. You are the foundation upon which I stand, the refuge in whom I find peace. Your faithfulness never wavers, and Your righteousness is a light that guides my steps.

You have called me to trust in You, to surrender my worries, my fears, and my uncertainties into Your hands. In Your Presence, I find rest. In Your love, I find purpose. You are the Keeper of my soul, the One who lifts me when I stumble and strengthens me when I grow weary.

The Whisper of His Presence

The Lord, in His infinite mercy and love, calls out to us—not in thunder or spectacle but in the quiet places, in moments where the heart longs for peace. His Presence is woven into the sunrise that speaks of new beginnings, in the cool breeze that refreshes the weary soul, in the stillness where anxious thoughts are quieted by His embrace. He is near, whispering His love, His guidance, His truth to every heart willing to seek and listen.

His Word is a light unto our feet, (Psalm 119:105) illuminating the path of righteousness. Through scripture, He teaches us to lean not on our own understanding but to trust in Him fully.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” —Proverbs 3:5-6  

We honor Him by walking in obedience, by seeking Him in both joy and sorrow, by turning to Him in prayer and trusting His promises. Obedience is not simply a duty—it is a response to His unfailing love, a desire to follow where He leads. This can be seen in daily acts of faith:

  • Choosing kindness when faced with hostility
  • Seeking forgiveness rather than holding onto bitterness
  • Turning to scripture when faced with uncertainty
  • Offering encouragement to those who struggle
  • Waiting patiently on the Lord rather than rushing ahead

Each step taken in faith is an act of worship, an acknowledgment that His ways are higher, His plans perfect. We are not alone—God is ever near, speaking through His creation, through His Word, through the gentle stirrings in our spirit. His presence is a gift, a constant reminder that we are known, loved, and held in His grace.

Prayer: “LORD-let my heart be tuned to hear Your voice in all things. Give me wisdom to walk in obedience, strength to trust in Your ways, and a spirit that seeks You with all my being. May I never take Your presence for granted. Thank You for always drawing near.  In Jesus name, Amen.”

A Love That Holds Us Fast

There is an anchor in the storm, an unmovable promise that defies every uncertainty: Christ will never leave us. When the world sways, when circumstances press against us, when doubts creep into the heart, His steadfast presence remains.

Think of the times when you’ve felt alone, unheard, or uncertain. The weight of life’s burdens can make it seem as though the heavens are silent. But that silence is not absence; it is a gentle whisper calling us to trust deeper.

Jesus’ promise in Hebrews 13:5 echoes through time, untouched by circumstance, unshaken by weakness. He does not withdraw His love when we falter. He does not forsake us when we struggle to see Him. The cross itself is proof of this relentless pursuit—a love so vast that He bore all separation so that we would never have to.

His nearness is not based on our worthiness, nor does His faithfulness waver with our doubts. No matter how uncertain life feels, no matter how many times we struggle to trust, He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.” – Hebrews 4:14

 

This verse reassures believers of the unwavering truth that Jesus Christ is our great High Priest. Unlike earthly priests, His priesthood is eternal, for He has ascended into the heavens and intercedes for us before the Father. This position is not distant or detached—Jesus, fully God and fully man, understands our struggles intimately. Because He took on flesh, faced temptation, and endured suffering, He is the perfect mediator between God and humanity.

To “hold fast our profession” means more than just declaring faith; it speaks of steadfastness, unwavering trust, and the refusal to let go of the truth of Christ. In times of trial, it is easy to waver, but this verse calls believers to anchor themselves in the certainty of Jesus’ lordship. He is not just an idea or philosophy—He is the living Son of God, active in our lives, sustaining and strengthening us through every hardship.

Moral Thought

The call to remain steadfast in faith is essential in a world where distractions and difficulties can shake one’s beliefs. Society pressures us to conform, to compromise convictions for convenience, and to doubt in times of uncertainty. But moral courage is found in holding fast to truth, trusting in God’s promises even when circumstances seem unfavorable. Jesus did not falter in His mission to redeem us; His obedience was perfect. Likewise, we are encouraged to remain faithful and committed to the path of righteousness, no matter the opposition.

A Living Breath of God – Faith Encouraged Ministries

Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

The Sovereign Love of the Lord

The love of the Lord is a steadfast and enduring force, unshaken by the frailty of mankind. From the beginning of time, He has woven His mercy into the fabric of creation, ensuring that His presence is never absent from those who seek Him. His power stretches beyond comprehension, holding the heavens in their place, commanding the seas, and setting the stars upon their courses.

In His love, there is security, an unshaken assurance that He is always in control. While the world wrestles with uncertainty and fear, His hand remains steady, guiding the affairs of men, turning the hearts of kings, and directing the paths of His people. Nothing moves outside His sovereign will, and even in affliction, His purposes remain steadfast.

His morals and judgments are pure, untainted by the corruption of human frailty. He is righteous in all His ways, a King whose throne is established upon justice and truth. No wickedness dwells in His thoughts, nor does deceit stain His intentions. He commands holiness, calling His people to walk uprightly before Him, to love mercy, to act justly, and to remain steadfast in faith. His thoughts towards His children are those of peace, not of destruction. He desires restoration and redemption, extending His grace that men may turn from their ways and find life in Him.

Reflecting upon His love and power, one cannot help but marvel at the depth of His mercy. How often do we falter, yet He remains patient? How often do we doubt, yet He reassures? His compassions fail not, they are new every morning. Even when the storms rage, His promises remain true, and His faithfulness is unwavering.

Let thy love be my comfort and thy power my refuge. Teach me to fear thee in reverence and to trust thee without wavering. When doubts cloud my mind, let thy Word be my foundation.

Oh, how beautiful it is to rise and declare the majesty of the Lord! It is a reminder that no matter the trials of yesterday, today is a new opportunity to glorify God. Before the sun graces the sky, let the song of our hearts proclaim His goodness! He is worthy of our unceasing worship, our unshaken devotion, and our unwavering trust.
