There are verses in Scripture that feel like thunder—quiet at first, then rolling through the soul with a power that cannot be ignored. Nahum 1:5 is one of those rare, obscure gems. It is not quoted often, yet it carries the weight of eternity. It reminds us that the God we worship is not small, not fragile, not limited. He is the One before whom mountains tremble and hills melt. Creation itself responds to His presence.

This verse pulls back the curtain on the majesty of the LORD. We often think of His gentleness, His mercy, His tenderness—and rightly so. But here, we are invited to remember His raw, uncontainable power. The mountains, ancient and immovable, quake at His voice. The hills, symbols of stability, melt before Him. The earth, vast and unyielding, burns at His Presence. Everything that seems permanent bows to the One who spoke it into being.

And yet—this same God bends low to hear your whisper. The God who shakes mountains is the same God who steadies your heart. The God who melts hills is the same God who holds you when you feel like you’re falling apart. The God whose presence makes the earth tremble is the same God who walks beside you in quiet moments, offering peace that surpasses understanding.

This verse reminds us that His power is not meant to frighten His children—it is meant to reassure them. If the mountains quake before Him, then nothing that rises against you can stand. If the earth melts at His presence, then no fear, no enemy, no darkness can overpower the One who protects you. His strength is not distant; it is your shelter. His might is not abstract; it is your refuge. His power is not against you; it is for you.

When life feels unstable, when circumstances shake, when fear tries to rise—remember this: The mountains tremble before Him, but you are held by Him. The earth melts at His presence, but you are safe in His hands. The world bows to His authority, but you are loved by His heart.

Lord, remind me of Your power when I feel weak. Let the truth of Your majesty steady my spirit and anchor my thoughts. When the world feels overwhelming, help me remember that even the mountains tremble before You—yet You call me Your own. Surround me with Your strength, fill me with Your peace, and let Your presence quiet every fear.  In Jesus name, Amen.

DEAR GOD: I Am Rooted In What Endures Forever~

The Grass Withers The Flower Fades But The Word Of Our God Stands ...Being born again not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and bideth forever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man asthe flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof faileth away, but the Word of the LORD endureth forever. And this is the world which by the gospel is preached unto you.  1 Peter 1:23, 24, 25 (KJV)

These verses should speak directly to our very soul, as this is the substance of which we are to live and abide as Christian followers. The world is corrupt, and filled with so many dark moments, and scenarios, but we are to put on the “incorruptible” which is to say the “WORD” of the LORD.

All things are subject to “perish” – all have a season and time to live here on earth.  The grass, flowers, even automobiles have a time limit until they are no longer useful. But our spirit and being born again is “forever alive” and not subject to death. For it is said, in Romans, 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our LORD.”

We will never “die” we are going on to eternal life once we leave these “flesh bodies.”  But until such time, we need to be diligent in all aspects of our life, in what we do, take on, and choose. We are to be respectful of others, but to adhere to the LORD and His will and commandments, over everything – and everyone.  For He is what matters, and He is the nucleus of our existence.

Peter reminds us that our new life in Christ isn’t fragile or temporary. We were reborn through the incorruptible Word of God, something that doesn’t fade, wrinkle, or wither like human strength does. Everything earthly eventually dries up, but God’s Word — and the life it produces in us — remains steady, eternal, and untouched by time.

This incredible truth is what drives Christians to devotion, worship and passion for our LORD. The fact that His WORD (which Jesus is the living Word – John 1:1) – Incorporate the Word into every detail of life and obey Him with a fiery spirit of devotion. 

He came for us, to save us. To redeem us from sin, and to bring us ever lasting life.

  • Those who believe in Him shall never die!   
  • Those who drink from His Water, shall never thirst!  

No matter how innocent something may seem, if it is NOT of the LORD, don’t fluff it off thinking “oh well it’s harmless, how bad can this be?”  Rather -Instead, turn from it – no matter the consequences, even if it “offends someone” or someone is not in agreement with it. 

Jesus said, “anyone who is against us is not of us“(Matthew 12:30). And ostensibly, He warns us in Mark 9:40, and Luke 9:50  – “Whoever is not against us is for us.”  

Today as you go about your daily activities of living – are you ready to defend and guard your heart, soul and mind in the name of the LORD?

“Father, thank You for giving me a new life that cannot decay or be taken away. Let Your Word take deeper root in my heart, shaping my thoughts, my choices, and my peace. Help me stand on what is eternal, not on what fades. In Jesus name, Amen.”

The Bread of Life: Eternal Satisfaction in Christ

John 6:35 stands as one of the most profound declarations of Jesus’ identity and mission: “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” This verse is not merely poetic; it is deeply theological, practical, and transformative. It reveals Christ as the ultimate source of spiritual nourishment, the one who satisfies the deepest longings of the human soul.

Bread in the ancient world was the staple of daily life. To say “I am the bread of life” was to connect with the most basic human need. Just as bread sustains physical life, Jesus sustains spiritual life. He is not offering temporary relief but eternal fulfillment. Hunger and thirst symbolize the restless human condition — our search for meaning, peace, and belonging. In Christ, that search finds its end. He is not one option among many; He is the essential sustenance without which life cannot truly flourish.

The context of John 6 is crucial. Jesus had just fed the five thousand, a miraculous provision of bread and fish. The crowd pursued Him, hoping for more physical food. But Jesus redirected their attention from the material to the eternal. He challenged them to see beyond their stomachs and recognize their souls’ hunger. The miracle of bread was a sign pointing to Him as the true bread. In essence, He was saying: “Don’t just seek what perishes; seek Me, the one who gives eternal life.”

This verse also emphasizes faith. To “come to Him” and to “believe in Him” are parallel expressions. They signify trust, surrender, and reliance on Christ. Belief is not intellectual assent alone; it is a wholehearted embrace of Jesus as Lord and Savior. The promise is staggering: those who come and believe will never hunger or thirst again. This does not mean life will be free of trials, but it does mean that in Christ, the deepest needs of the heart are met. He provides peace in turmoil, hope in despair, and joy in sorrow.

Furthermore, this verse speaks to the exclusivity of Christ. No philosophy, possession, or relationship can ultimately satisfy. Only Jesus, the bread of life, can fill the void. This is why believers throughout history have testified that knowing Him is sweeter than any earthly gain. In Him, we find not only sustenance but abundance — life eternal, overflowing with grace.

” LORD-Jesus, Bread of Life, we thank You for being the one who satisfies our deepest hunger and quenches our thirst for meaning and peace. Teach us to come to You daily, to believe in You fully, and to rest in Your promise of eternal life. May our lives reflect the joy of being nourished by Your presence. In Jesus name, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: You Are My Shepherd – I Will Not Want~

Micah 5:4 – “He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.”

This verse from Micah is a profound testimony to the Lord’s goodness. It speaks of God’s strength not as distant power, but as intimate care—the shepherd standing among His flock. The imagery reminds us that security is not found in worldly guarantees, but in the majesty of His name. His greatness is not confined to one place or one people; it reaches to the ends of the earth, assuring us that His care is universal and His promises unshakable.

The testimony here is that God’s Presence is both protective and empowering. Just as a shepherd guides, nourishes, and defends, so the Lord has guided His people through trials and triumphs. To live securely in Him is to rest in the assurance that His strength is sufficient, His majesty is eternal, and His love is unfailing.

“The Unfailing Love of the Lord”

The love of the Lord is not fleeting or conditional; it is steadfast, eternal, and deeply personal. Unlike human affection, which can waver with circumstances, God’s love remains constant. It is the foundation of our faith and the anchor of our hope. His love is demonstrated in creation, in the gift of Christ, and in the daily mercies we receive. To rest in His love is to find peace that surpasses understanding and strength that endures trials.

  • What practices help me remain aware of God’s steadfast love?
  • How does remembering His love change the way I face challenges?

DEAR GOD: “Guarded by Your Peace”

Philippians 4:7 -“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:7 – speaks of a peace that transcends human comprehension. Unlike the fragile calm the world offers, God’s peace is rooted in His eternal presence and promises. It is not dependent on circumstances, emotions, or human reasoning. Instead, it flows from Christ Himself, who reconciles us to God and secures our hearts in His love.

This verse reminds us that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the active presence of God guarding our inner life. The imagery of “guarding hearts and minds” suggests a divine sentinel — the Lord Himself standing watch over our thoughts, emotions, and spirit. When anxiety rises, His peace intervenes, shielding us from despair and grounding us in hope.

Living in Christ Jesus means surrendering daily to His lordship, trusting that He is both our refuge and our strength. The peace He gives is not passive; it is active, protective, and enduring. It is a peace that whispers assurance in the night, steadies us in uncertainty, and anchors us in the truth that we are never alone.

True peace is not found in understanding every detail of life, but in trusting the One who holds life itself.

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)

 

Life can be filled with all kinds of surprises – some good, some not so good. And the surprises can be life altering in both good and bad. The timing is unexpected, and the circumstances can be delightfully welcome, or devastating.  How do we handle both good and bad?  – there is only one correct answer for that – there is no “multiple choice” responses – the only answer is “God.”

There are times when I feel too numb to “feel anything” and begin to wonder if I’ve somehow lost my sense of ability to react to emotions – good or otherwise. But that is a component of life that many will encounter. It’s the invariable ups and downs and all arounds of LIFE.

But during all of these moments, and sensations or lack thereof – the only One that gets me through the cycle of life – is LIFE itself – which is to say my LORD and Savior.

  • Times are unsettled. Our LORD is anything but – He is constant.
  • Times can be chaotic. Our LORD is anything but- He is Peace.
  • Times can be scary. Our LORD is anything but – He is soothing.
  • Times can be painful. Our LORD is anything but – He is painless.

It’s okay to feel three dimensional – or one dimensional, after all we are humans. Within our flesh bodies come cascades of varying degrees of emotions and events that we react to.  But it’s so much better with a person of faith than those who have no baseline or hope or trust or love or God. I’ve seen both sides of the coin, especially in my past career working in the nursing home industry.  First, as the social worker, then as the Administrator of our nursing home. And I’ve seen all sides of humans, behavior and otherwise. The good sides. The bad sides. The beautiful sides. And the ugly sides. And I tell you this with full certainty – those with faith were able to withstand all sides of life including those surprises, both good and bad.

For those who didn’t believe, well they languished in an abysmal vortex of nothingness. They were seemingly waiting for “nothing” and didn’t care about “anything.” All hope gone, perishing and clinging to a vapor and mist of existence.

I write this not to depress my readers, but to bring comfort and uplift those of faith to even greater heights if possible.  And to those readers who are here for the first time, perhaps to elevate their circumstances and let them wonder what “Christ is all about.” Perhaps to pick up a Bible and read. Or to reach out to someone and ask questions about life with God in it.  A friend, a pastor, a teacher – a neighbor – anyone who follows the LORD and knows Him intimately can bring about a current of understanding and knowledge of how GREAT He is!

LIFE is a moving phenomenon.  It keeps going irrespective of our circumstances, and it revolves around a 24-hour cycle. –  Within those hours we can be devoted to a God that loves us more than we could ever possibly begin to fathom or imagine. And trust Him to guide us. And love Him because of who He is and what He does and continues to do for us, 24/7, non-stop.

Are you a follower? Have you reached out to Him today no matter what you are going through? Of course, He sees and knows, you and your heart – but He wants to hear it from you directly.

Go to Him – it really makes Life – LIFE!

Isaiah 40:8 (ESV) “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”

In Isaiah 40:8, the prophet offers a striking contrast between the fleeting nature of earthly beauty and the enduring truth of God’s Word. Grass and flowers—symbols of vitality and splendor—are subject to time, decay, and change. Yet, in the midst of this transience, Isaiah declares a profound truth: God’s Word is eternal, unchanging, and steadfast.

This verse is nestled within a chapter that speaks comfort to a weary people. Israel, exiled and burdened, needed reassurance that despite their circumstances, God’s promises remained firm. Isaiah reminds them—and us—that while human strength, beauty, and even institutions may falter, the Word of God is a foundation that cannot be shaken.

In today’s world, where trends shift rapidly and truth is often treated as subjective, Isaiah 40:8 calls us to anchor ourselves in something eternal. Social media, news cycles, and cultural movements can feel like wild winds blowing through the grass. But Scripture offers a stillness, a rootedness. It speaks of love that never fails, justice that rolls like a river, and grace that renews each morning.

For caregivers, artists, advocates, and seekers of truths- this verse affirms that our efforts—when aligned with God’s Word—carry eternal weight. Whether preparing meals, writing devotionals, fully engaged in caregiving, taking care of a household with children and aging parents, or mapping sanctuaries, or whatever your circumstances or situation may be-the Word infuses each act with purpose beyond the moment. It’s not the fading flower of recognition we seek, but the enduring bloom of spiritual resonance.

Reflectively, Isaiah 40:8 invites us to ask: What am I building my life upon? Am I chasing the wind, or planting seeds in eternal soil? It’s a call to return to Scripture not just for knowledge, but for anchoring, for peace, for clarity in the storm. And embracing the love of the One that loves us more than anyone or anybody on this earth possibly can.

“LORD -in a world that withers and fades, anchor me in Your Word. Let Your truth be my compass, Your promises my shelter. Teach me to see beyond the fleeting and to invest in the eternal. May my life reflect Your enduring love, and may I find peace in Your unchanging Presence. In Jesus name, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: From Shadows to Glory—Christ Our Light Forever~

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.” — Isaiah 9:2 (ESV)

In Christ, the shadows flee. What once loomed as fear, sorrow, or confusion is now bathed in holy light. He does not merely illuminate our path—He is the Light. Every valley of grief, every corridor of doubt, every graveyard of memory is transformed in His presence. The darkness we once knew becomes the backdrop for His glory. We are no longer wanderers in shadow—we are children of light, called into radiant communion with the One who overcame the night.
