“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
When God Sits Beside Your Sorrow
by C D Swanson~
There are moments when the world feels too sharp, too loud, too heavy — and your heart feels like it’s carrying more than it was ever designed to hold. But Psalm 34:18 tells us something breathtaking: God does not stand far off when we break. He draws near. He sits beside the ache. He gathers the pieces we can’t hold together and whispers, “I’m here. I’m not leaving.”
This verse isn’t about strength — it’s about surrender. It’s about the God who steps into the quiet places where tears fall unseen and says, “Your brokenness is not the end of your story. It’s where I begin My healing.”
When your heart trembles, His presence steadies. When your spirit feels crushed, His hands lift. When you feel unseen, He bends low and calls you beloved.
LORD- draw near to my broken places and breathe Your healing into every corner of my heart. Hold me close, steady my spirit, and remind me that You are never far from those who need You most. In Jesus name, Amen.
