DEAR GOD: I Am Rooted In What Endures Forever~

The Grass Withers The Flower Fades But The Word Of Our God Stands ...Being born again not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and bideth forever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man asthe flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof faileth away, but the Word of the LORD endureth forever. And this is the world which by the gospel is preached unto you.  1 Peter 1:23, 24, 25 (KJV)

These verses should speak directly to our very soul, as this is the substance of which we are to live and abide as Christian followers. The world is corrupt, and filled with so many dark moments, and scenarios, but we are to put on the “incorruptible” which is to say the “WORD” of the LORD.

All things are subject to “perish” – all have a season and time to live here on earth.  The grass, flowers, even automobiles have a time limit until they are no longer useful. But our spirit and being born again is “forever alive” and not subject to death. For it is said, in Romans, 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our LORD.”

We will never “die” we are going on to eternal life once we leave these “flesh bodies.”  But until such time, we need to be diligent in all aspects of our life, in what we do, take on, and choose. We are to be respectful of others, but to adhere to the LORD and His will and commandments, over everything – and everyone.  For He is what matters, and He is the nucleus of our existence.

Peter reminds us that our new life in Christ isn’t fragile or temporary. We were reborn through the incorruptible Word of God, something that doesn’t fade, wrinkle, or wither like human strength does. Everything earthly eventually dries up, but God’s Word — and the life it produces in us — remains steady, eternal, and untouched by time.

This incredible truth is what drives Christians to devotion, worship and passion for our LORD. The fact that His WORD (which Jesus is the living Word – John 1:1) – Incorporate the Word into every detail of life and obey Him with a fiery spirit of devotion. 

He came for us, to save us. To redeem us from sin, and to bring us ever lasting life.

  • Those who believe in Him shall never die!   
  • Those who drink from His Water, shall never thirst!  

No matter how innocent something may seem, if it is NOT of the LORD, don’t fluff it off thinking “oh well it’s harmless, how bad can this be?”  Rather -Instead, turn from it – no matter the consequences, even if it “offends someone” or someone is not in agreement with it. 

Jesus said, “anyone who is against us is not of us“(Matthew 12:30). And ostensibly, He warns us in Mark 9:40, and Luke 9:50  – “Whoever is not against us is for us.”  

Today as you go about your daily activities of living – are you ready to defend and guard your heart, soul and mind in the name of the LORD?

“Father, thank You for giving me a new life that cannot decay or be taken away. Let Your Word take deeper root in my heart, shaping my thoughts, my choices, and my peace. Help me stand on what is eternal, not on what fades. In Jesus name, Amen.”

Delight Yourself in the Lord - Listening To God

 

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” –Psalm 1:1-2

Rooted in Delight: The Blessed Path of Psalm 1

Psalm 1 opens the entire book of Psalms with a radiant contrast: the way of the righteous versus the way of the ungodly. It paints a portrait of a person who chooses not to be shaped by the voices of cynicism, rebellion, or scorn, but instead anchors their soul in the living Word of God.

The blessed one is not merely avoiding corruption — they are actively delighting in the law of the Lord. This delight is not duty, but joy. It is the posture of a heart that finds nourishment, peace, and identity in God’s truth. To meditate “day and night” is to weave Scripture into the rhythm of life — morning prayers, evening reflections, and the quiet pauses in between.

The imagery suggests stability and fruitfulness: a tree planted by streams of water, drawing life from a source that never runs dry. Such a person becomes a sanctuary themselves — offering shade, fruit, and peace to those around them. The ungodly may chase fleeting counsel, but the righteous are rooted in eternal wisdom.

This passage reminds us that true blessing is not found in worldly approval, but in the quiet joy of walking with God, listening to His voice, and letting His Word shape every step.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of Your Word that brings light to our path and peace to our hearts. Teach us to turn away from voices that lead us astray, and to find our delight in Your truth. Plant us deeply by Your living waters, that we may bear fruit in season and reflect Your love to others. May our meditation on Your law be sweet, steady, and life‑giving. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I love You, Lord, my Vine divine,
Your life flows deep through roots of mine.
No branch alone can stand or grow,
But grafted in, Your love I know.

You found me dry, with leaves grown thin,
Yet drew me close and pulled me in.
You healed my wounds, restored my frame,
And wrote upon my heart Your name.

I cling to You through storm and sun,
When days are bright or battles run.
Your Spirit whispers, soft and true,
“My child, I live and breathe in you.”

Each fruit I bear is not my own,
But proof that I am not alone.
Your mercy feeds my every leaf,
Your grace outshines my deepest grief.

When pruning comes, I will not fear,
For You are close, and always near.
You cut with care, You shape with love,
To lift my gaze to things above.

I love You, Lord, my soul’s delight,
You turn my ashes into light.
You grafted me with holy thread,

   “Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings.” — Psalm 17:8

 The phrase “apple of Your eye” is a deeply personal and affectionate metaphor. In ancient Hebrew, it refers to the pupil, the most sensitive and protected part of the eye. To be the apple of God’s eye means to be cherished, guarded, and intimately known by Him.

David, the psalmist, pleads for God’s protection, recognizing that God’s love is not distant but deeply personal. This verse reassures us that we are precious to Him, watched over with unwavering care.

How This Is True

  1. God’s Covenant Love – Throughout scripture, God repeatedly calls His people chosen, beloved, and protected. In Zechariah 2:8, He warns that anyone who harms His people is touching the apple of His eye—a direct statement of His fierce protection.
  2. Christ’s Sacrifice – Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection prove that God values us beyond measure. He did not withhold His Son but gave Him up for our redemption, demonstrating that we are worth everything to Him.
  3. Divine Guidance – Like a parent shielding a child, God guides, corrects, and nurtures us. His Spirit dwells within us, ensuring that we are never abandoned.

How We Can Be More Favorable in His Eyes

  1. Seek Him Daily – A heart that longs for God is a heart He delights in. Spending time in prayer, scripture, and worship deepens our relationship with Him.
  2. Live in Obedience – Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Walking in righteousness, humility, and love aligns us with His will.
  3. Trust His Protection – Instead of fearing the world, we should rest in His promises, knowing that He shields those who trust in Him.
  4. Reflect His Love – We are called to love others as He loves us. Extending grace, kindness, and forgiveness makes us true reflections of His heart.

Prayer

 “Father, Thank You for calling us the apple of Your eye—for cherishing us beyond measure. Help us to walk in Your love, to seek You with all our hearts, and to trust in Your unfailing protection. May we reflect Your goodness in our words and actions, living as true children of Your kingdom. Keep us close, shield us from harm, and guide us in Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
