DEAR GOD: Greater Are You Than All Of The Universe~

Greater is He who is within me than the one who is in the world. 1 John ...

Greater is He That is in You

In the epistle of 1 John, the apostle John addresses the faithful with words of encouragement and affirmation. Among the many profound truths he shares, one stands out as a beacon of hope: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4 KJV). This statement is not merely a comforting thought; it is a declaration of victory, a testament to the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer.

The Indwelling Presence

The presence of God within us is a fundamental truth of the Christian faith. The Holy Spirit, who is God Himself, takes residence in our hearts when we believe in Jesus Christ. “And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us” (1 John 3:24 KJV). This indwelling is not a passive occurrence but an active engagement of God in our lives, guiding, teaching, and empowering us to live out our faith.

The Victory Over the World

The world, as John refers to it, is a system of values and beliefs that is often at odds with God’s truth. It is ruled by “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2 KJV), who seeks to lead us astray. However, the one who is in us—God Himself—is greater than any force or influence the world can muster. Our victory is not in our strength but in His power. “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4 KJV).

Living Out the Greater One

How, then, shall we live in light of this truth? We are called to abide in Him, to walk just as Jesus walked. “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked” (1 John 2:6 KJV). Our daily lives should reflect the character and love of Christ, demonstrating to the world the transformative power of His presence within us.

Questions for Reflection

  • How does the truth that “greater is He that is in you” impact your daily life?
  • In what ways can you demonstrate the love and power of Christ to those around you?
  • What steps can you take to deepen your relationship with the indwelling presence of God?

“Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, who resides in our hearts. We rejoice in the truth that You are greater than anything we face in this world. Help us to live out this victory daily, walking in faith and love. May our lives be a testament to Your power and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

I hope this post will bring individuals to reflect on the assurance provided by the knowledge that God’s Presence within us is mightier than any worldly influence. And that it encourages believers to live out their faith with confidence and to continually seek a deeper fellowship with God, according to His will and His Word…

“He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’”-Luke 24:6-7:

The Triumph of Love: A Reflection on the Resurrection

In the stillness of predawn of the first Paschal, a miracle unfolded that forever altered the course of human history. The stone was rolled away, not to let the living in, but to let the dead out. Jesus Christ, who had been crucified and laid to rest in the tomb, was no longer there. He had risen, just as He said. This event, so central to the Christian faith, is not just a testament to His Divine power over death but a profound tribute to the boundless love that Jesus embodies.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christian belief, symbolizing the ultimate victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

It is a story of redemption, where the blood shed on the cross washes away the sins of humanity, offering a path to reconciliation with God. The “He is Risen” verse is not merely a statement of fact; it is a declaration of hope, a confirmation of His unparalleled Divine and perfect love, and a call to transformation.

Jesus’ journey to the cross was marked by suffering and sacrifice, a testament to His unwavering commitment to humanity’s salvation. The nails that pierced His hands, the thorns that crowned His head, and the spear that wounded His side were endured out of love—a love so profound that it chose to suffer for the sake of others. In His resurrection, Jesus did not just defeat death; He redeemed life, infusing it with purpose and meaning.

The empty tomb is a powerful symbol of God’s love. It reminds us that no darkness is too deep, no sin too great, and no despair too overwhelming that it cannot be overcome by divine love. The resurrection assures us that love is stronger than hate, life is stronger than death, and hope is stronger than despair.

As we reflect on the resurrection, we are invited to consider the implications of this miraculous event in our own lives. How does the love demonstrated by Jesus on the cross and through His resurrection inspire us to live? Are we willing to embrace the transformative power of this love, allowing it to shape our actions, our relationships, and our understanding of ourselves?

In conclusion, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is not just an event to be celebrated; it is a reality to be lived and embraced. It is the ultimate gift from above. It is significant and it is life altering. It challenges us to rise above our circumstances, to seek reconciliation, to forgive as we have been forgiven, and to love as we have been loved. It calls us to be agents of hope in a world that often seems hopeless.

  • How can we embody the love that Jesus demonstrated through His life, death, and resurrection?
  • In what ways can we extend forgiveness and grace to others, as we have received from Christ?
  • How does the hope of the resurrection influence our perspective on the trials and tribulations of life?

“Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of Your love, demonstrated so profoundly through the resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We thank You for the hope and redemption that this miraculous event represents. Help us to live in the light of Your love, to extend grace to others, and to be bearers of hope in a world in need. May our lives be a tribute to Your love, as we seek to follow in the footsteps of our risen Savior. Amen.”

  • 1 Peter 1:3: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:14-15: “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
  • Romans 6:5-6: “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.”

DEAR GOD: You Are My Lifeguard – Forever~

God Is My Lifeguard Psalm 141:8 - YouTube

The Everlasting Watch

In the quiet moments of reflection, amidst the bustling noise of life, there is a profound truth that brings comfort to the soul: Jesus is watching over us, constantly, all the days of our lives. This devotional will attempt to explore this comforting Presence, supported by verses.

Divine Vigilance

The Bible is replete with assurances of God’s watchful eye. In Genesis 28:15, God promises Jacob, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.” -This covenant, extended through Jesus, assures us of an unceasing divine presence.

Similarly, Psalm 121:8 affirms, “The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore,”– encapsulating the eternal nature of God’s guardianship.

A Personal Testament

Life is a tapestry of experiences and emotions, woven with threads of joy and sorrow. Through each season, the belief that Jesus watches over us has been my anchor. In times of triumph, His gaze has been my affirmation; in moments of despair, His sight has brought solace. This constant surveillance is not one of judgment, but of unwavering love and guidance.

Reflections on Divine Presence

The scriptures tell us that Jesus’ love is steadfast, and His watchfulness never wanes. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus reassures us, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This promise of companionship is not just for a moment or a day, but for a lifetime and beyond.

The Comfort of Constant Care

Knowing that Jesus is always with us provides a profound sense of comfort. He is all things to us -loving Presence, a royal King, a guardian angel, or lifeguard- whose eyes are filled with kindness, ready to guide us through every decision and comfort us in every trial. His watchful care is a beacon of hope in a world that can often feel uncertain and tumultuous- and at times – extremely dark!

Living Under the Watchful Eye

Living with the awareness of Jesus’ constant Presence can transform our lives. It encourages us to live with integrity, knowing that we are always in the presence of a divine and all-consuming love. It also inspires us to extend that same care and attention to others, reflecting Jesus’ love through our very own actions, and lifestyle.

As we ponder the Omnipresence of Jesus, let us take solace in the knowledge that we are never alone, and His love surrounds us all the days of our lives.

  1. How does the knowledge of Jesus’ constant presence influence your daily life?
  2. In what ways have you felt Jesus watching over and guiding you?
  3. How can we become more aware of Jesus’ presence in our lives?

“Dear Heavenly Father, we are eternally grateful for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, who watches over us day and night. May we always feel the warmth of His love and the security of His watchful eyes. Help us to live in a way that honors Your constant presence in our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.”

May I extend an open invitation for all to reflect and deepen your appreciation for the ever-present watchfulness of Jesus, and His love, and may it inspire you to seek His presence in every aspect of your lives. His grace and love are open to all and anyone, and He is waiting – always!”

DEAR GOD: May We Walk In Humility & Spirit~

Humility - The first virtue

The Humility and Servanthood of Jesus: A Path to True Greatness

In the teachings of Jesus Christ, humility and servanthood are not just virtues to be admired but are essential qualities that define the very nature of what it means to be a follower of God. Jesus, in His life and ministry, exemplified these traits and instructed His disciples to do the same, promising that such a path leads to true greatness and the pleasure of the Father. In the tapestry of Christian doctrine, the figure of Jesus stands as the epitome of divine love and humble service. His earthly ministry, as depicted in the Gospels, provides a profound narrative of selfless servitude—a model for humanity to emulate in the pursuit of spiritual fulfillment and the heavenly promise.

Humility: The Foundation of Servanthood

Humility is the foundation upon which servanthood is built. It is the ability to see oneself accurately, neither inflated.

Philippians 2:3-4 – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

The Essence of Divine Love

At the heart of Jesus’ teachings is the commandment to love. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34). This divine love is sacrificial, unconditional, and all-encompassing. It is a love that transcends human understanding and speaks to the very nature of God, as stated in 1 John 4:8-“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

Jesus, the Humble Servant

Jesus’ life was a testament to humility. He, who was revered as the Messiah, chose not to exalt Himself but to serve others. Philippians 2:6-7- reflects this humility, “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” His washing of the disciples’ feet John 13:1-17 is a symbolic act that underscores His commitment to servitude.

The Call to Follow

Christians are called to follow Jesus’ example. In Matthew 20:26-28, Jesus articulates this call, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” This passage invites believers to a life of service, suggesting that the path to greatness and ultimately to heaven is paved with humility and servitude.

Living the Doctrine

To live according to Jesus’ doctrine is to embody love and humility in every aspect of life. It means to prioritize the needs of others, to offer compassion and assistance, and to forsake the ego’s clamor for recognition and power. Galatians 5:13-14 exhorts, “Serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ “Recognition and power. Galatians 5:13-14 exhorts, “Serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

The Reward of Heaven

The promise of heaven is intertwined with the practice of Jesus’ teachings. It is not merely a destination but a state of being that begins in the here and now, through the daily acts of love and service.

As Jesus assures in Matthew 25:34-40, the Kingdom of Heaven awaits those who serve “the least of these,” for in serving them, they serve Christ Himself.

In Closing –

The humble servitude of Jesus is more than a historical account; it is a living invitation to walk a path of love, service, and humility. By following His example, believers open themselves to the transformative power of divine love, which leads to a life of fulfillment on earth and the eternal joy of heaven.

O Lord, our Shepherd and Guide, may we walk in the footsteps of Your Son, Embracing His love, His humility, His light. Teach us to serve as He served, to love as He loved, to carry our cross with the grace He bestowed. May our hearts be ever open, our hands ever ready, our spirits ever willing, to be Your instruments of peace and love. Lead us on the path to Your heavenly kingdom, where love reigns supreme, and servitude is the crown of life. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: I Readily Submit To Your Will~

Are You Submitting to God? | worldchallenge.org

God’s will and timing are two important aspects of the Christian faith. God has a perfect plan for each of His children, and He knows the best time to execute it. Sometimes, we may feel impatient or frustrated when we don’t see God’s will or timing in our lives. We may wonder why He is delaying or what He is waiting for. But the Bible assures us that God is always working for our good and His glory, and that He has a purpose for everything that happens in our lives.

The following verses are some of the many verses that can let us trust God’s will and His perfect timing:

Ecclesiastes 3:1: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” -This reminds us that God has a perfect timing for everything that happens in our lives. He knows when to give and when to take away, when to bless and when to test, when to open and when to close doors. We can trust that He always has a reason for every season in our lives, and that He will make everything beautiful in His own time.

Psalm 27:14:Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” – This encourages us to wait patiently for God’s will and timing, and not to lose hope or courage. Waiting on God is not a passive or idle activity, but an active and faithful one. It means to seek Him, to obey Him, to worship Him, and to expect Him to act on our behalf. As we wait on God, He will strengthen our hearts and renew our spirits.

Jeremiah 29:11:For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This assures us that God has a good and perfect will for our lives, and that He is in control of our destiny. He does not intend to harm us, but to bless us and give us hope. He has a future for us that is beyond our imagination, and He will fulfill His promises to us in His time and way.

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” This verse teaches us to trust God’s will and timing, and not to rely on our own wisdom or understanding. We may not always understand why God does what He does, or when He does it, but we can trust that He knows what is best for us, and that He will guide us in the right direction. We can submit to His will and follow His lead, and He will make our paths straight and clear.

Some of my thoughts on God’s will and timing based on the above verses –God’s will and timing are not always the same as ours, but they are always better than ours. We may have our own plans and preferences, but God’s plans and purposes are higher and deeper than ours. He sees the big overall picture and the end results, whereas we only see the present and the partial.

He knows what we need and what we don’t, what will help us and what will hurt us, what will grow us and what will stunt us. He knows the best way and the best time to accomplish His will in our lives, and He will not be late or early, but right on time.

God’s will and timing are not always easy or comfortable, but they are always beneficial and rewarding. We may face challenges and difficulties, trials and temptations, delays and detours, as we follow God’s will and timing.

We may experience pain and sorrow, loss and grief, frustration and disappointment, as we wait for God’s will and timing. But we can be assured that God is working all things together for our good and His glory, and that He will not waste any of our experiences or emotions. He will use them to shape us, to teach us, to refine us, and to prepare us for His will and timing. He will reward us with His peace, His joy, His presence, and His promises, as we trust Him and obey Him.

God’s will and timing are not always clear or obvious, but they are always revealed and confirmed. We may not always know what God’s will and timing are for our lives, or how to discern them. We may have doubts and questions, confusion and uncertainty, as we seek God’s will and timing. But we can be confident that God will reveal and confirm His will and timing to us, as we seek Him with all our hearts, as we study His word, as we listen to His voice, as we follow His guidance, and as we consult His people.

The truth is -He will always make His will and timing known to us eventually. But we need to ask Him, as we knock on His door, and as we seek His face.

I hope these verses and thoughts have helped you to understand and appreciate God’s will and timing more. God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.

He is faithful and trustworthy, and He will accomplish His will and timing in your life, in His time, by His will, for His glory. God bless you- 😊

“Father, thank You for always looking out for me, for being faithful and loving me no matter what, thank You for Your perfect timing, and will for my life, may I always hear Your voice, submit to Your will and purpose for my life, and live according to Your Word and plans, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: What Is Gossiping?

19 ways to accidentally make everyone think you’re pregnant – SheKnows

Psalm 31:18
Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

Gossip is ugly. Gossip can be inhumane and cruel. And most importantly – God frowns upon gossip. You might say, He abominates it with a passion.

Talking about someone or sharing in with a group of naysayers speaking boldly and harshly about someone is just downright wrong on so many levels. It can have devastating repercussions on the person that is being gossiped about. And again, it can wreak lots of harm on your status with God – and it may even start to unravel a piece of your heart and soul if you continue to do so.

There are so many types of gossip. There those who can’t wait to share to others about something they “know” exclusively about, “said individual.”  It can be a minor account of what the person said. However, most times it turns out to be a long story and then others join in, and before you know it- it’s become a feeding frenzy on who knows more and what the person did and has done.  Not good!

There are extenuating circumstances that can happen. Where someone thinks that another should be “warned” about an individual – due to some extreme outrageous behavioral issue – and is trying to basically give a warning of sorts. And the warning is in truth and good faith. That’s not gossiping.

The Bible teaches that gossip is a sin that can harm others and consequently, us as well. Gossip is speaking or listening to words about others, be it false or negative. The Bible does warn us against gossip because it can create strife, separation of friends. It can cause quarreling, keep people in trouble, lead to ungodliness, and cause much bitterness and anger. The Bible advises us to avoid spreading rumors, lying, and slander – but instead to speak in truth and in love!

The Bible labels gossips as untrustworthy and meddlesome (Proverbs 11:1320:1926:201 Timothy 5:13) — and even as worthy of death (Romans 1:2932) So being One body in Christ, you don’t want to be among the gossipers, or in a group of such.

The book of Proverbs suggests gossip is like “delicious morsels,” a tasty treat that promises delight to those who indulge (Proverbs 18:826:22).

I see gossip as the polar opposite of the Gospel. Why? Well simple really. We know that gossip is bad – whereas we know the Gospel is good. One could be lies – the other only truth.

And if the story is false – you may not just be gossiping you’re slandering someone and undermining and disparaging their reputation. Slander is a very wicked thing.  (Leviticus 19:16Psalm 15:3Proverbs 19:5)

Gossip is usually always behind the victim’s back. By definition, gossip occurs only when the subject of the story is not present. It’s easier and more interesting that way when others aren’t there to “defend” themselves. And when people gossip, they usually lower their voices, look around to see if anyone is within ear shot, and then let it rip forth- “Psst-I know something you don’t know!” You know its gossip if you wouldn’t be saying it if the person that you’re speaking about was present. At least a good majority of times that is the case.
Gossip is clandestine, hidden, furtive, stealthy, sly (Proverbs 25:23Psalm 101:4–5). In other words – it’s sneaky and underhanded and gutless!
There are frilly “so called innocent gossipers. Then there are those who are intent on destroying someone out of a warp sense of revenge. Mean vicious gossip bent on revenge is birthed in malice and threatens to sink whole fellowships (2 Corinthians 12:19–13:23 John 9–10). This my friend is the kind of gossip that is a gazillion times worse than being a busybody, who is too interested in other peoples’ business (2 Thessalonians 3:111 Peter 4:15). Yet Jesus said that we will give an account for every careless word we have spoken (Matthew 12:36), not just for the malicious ones.

The Gospel and doctrine of Christ offers pure and fulfilling promises and peace. It is my overall clothing of choice (Ephesians 6 – Gospel Armor) all the days of my life. Whereas gossip is grossly inadequate and has nothing to offer but a dark cloud of suffocation to those who choose to engage in its nastiness (2 Peter 1:3–4).

The Gospel provides all the resources you need to regularly resist Gossip in real time (1 Corinthians 10:13)- God protects you and what you are experiencing isn’t uncommon and has happened to others. God provides a way to escape and will always show you a way out.

Eventually the temptations to gossip and be at the circle of such back biting vapid nonsense will ease off.  There is a battle going on daily in our lives. Spiritual verses the flesh. We need to walk in the spirit and light, and in time – even the most delectable morsel of gossip you may want to share will drop away.

As you trust in God’s love and His grace – you will be strong through Christ to walk away and turn your back on gossiping for good!

“Father may I be a vessel for Your purpose and not be apprehended or tempted by gossip, whether listening or adding to it, may I be strong through Christ, and provide encouragement and inspiration and bring You all the glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Dear God: May I sit on This Bench With You?

We are so grateful for this day Lord, for Your love and for another day to serve You in all we do and say, thank You Lord, Amen.

It is incomprehensible to grasp the intensity of Your unconditional love, but it is so easy to be loved by You. Your infinite wisdom envelops our souls.  You harness our very being with freedom and truth, as we parade throughout the day in honor of You.

As creator of heaven and earth, Jesus was far greater than the Sabbath, a day that was instituted to remember His work of creation.  Jesus is Lord of all, and the Sabbath was intended to honor Him.  And rest in the Lord, to feel peace in His presence.

Give thanks to the Almighty God… for everything you do or say, give supplication in prayer to the Lord our God.

Imagine sitting on a bench speaking with Jesus today.  Would you know what to do?  Would you know what to say?  How would you react?  Would you be comfortable in His presence face to face?

Sitting on a bench with Jesus.  First thing I would say is “I love You my Lord and Savior, thank You.”  And kiss his very feet.  I think the next thing I would do is ask, “have I pleased You thus far?  And, if not- what might I do to change that?

Each day as we walk on earth our spiritual selves contained within our flesh bodies… we all should try to ask, “What would Jesus do?”  Think spiritually…always spiritually. What would He say to a person in need?  What would He do, concerning a situation we are facing?  What would He think?  How would He act? How would He feel?

In living like Christ as we follow His doctrine and gospel, are we in fact really doing what He would do or say?  Are we in fact walking in the righteous way of which He would be proud?  If He sat near you this very day on a bench in the park; are you ready to speak to Him and not hang your head in shame?  Would you be easy in His magnificent presence knowing you have done all you can to uphold His ways and choices in life?  Think about that for a moment. What would you do if Jesus were sitting near you right this very moment?

Overwhelming, isn’t it?  My heart swells with love that is beyond expression of any kind.  It is difficult to put into words the depths of love for Jesus Christ, our Savior, Lord of lords, and King of kings. He will be coming again. Soon, we are getting very near.  We are living in the fig tree generation, and it will be anytime now.  All signs point to it, all of what Jesus told us, warned us repeatedly every chance He had. It’s coming to fruition.

And realize that there will be many who will come in His name claiming to be Christ. Be aware and wise my brothers and sisters. Realize that the false prophets will be very tricky.  Always keep your eyes open, be watchmen.  Listen to the Father’s word for therein lies the truth, and all we need to know concerning our very salvation. Jesus is coming back again…we need to recognize HIS voice, and follow our Shepherd.  Be aware of false ones, and do not be deceived! Christ warns us repeatedly about being deceived.  Walk in His ways and heed His words, obey His commandments and be ready for Him always.

“Be as wise as serpents and harmless as doves” Matthew 10:16 (NKJV)

Our Father loves us.  And all He wants for His unmerited favor, endless compassion and altruistic love is for us to love Him back. He gave us His book, and the “Holy Spirit” to guide us and be with us, our Comforter.  How amazing is that?  How amazing is He?

He is our Savior, our safety net, our Rock, our Protector, our Guide, our Father, our love, our Redeemer, our Very Own…and He loves us.  Our Everything, yet all He wants in return for all of this, and more, is for your obedience to Him, your faith…and your love.  That’s all…that’s it.

Does it get any better than that?

Jesus, I’m ready to sit with you on that park bench right now.

My brothers and sisters, are you ready to sit with Jesus today?
