Psalm 119:103 states, “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” This verse beautifully captures the essence of the Psalmist’s deep love and reverence for God’s Word. It is a vivid metaphor that compares the sweetness of God’s teachings to the most delightful substance known in ancient times—honey. It is a taste that is truly unique and such a treat to the senses. And that is only second to the ONE and Only Sweet – which is to say – the WORD of the LORD. It is satisfying and like none other, and so purely soothing to the soul.

The Bible frequently uses the imagery of sweetness to describe the Word of God. For instance, in Psalm 19:10, it is written, “They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.” Similarly, Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” These verses reinforce the idea that God’s words are not only valuable but also bring joy and healing to those who embrace them. Yes, all those years ago – I as a young girl going to school and being bullied mentally and physically. Thank goodness I had amazing support from my wonderful loving parents – and of course – most of all, my faith and Jesus as my constant companion. That is another story for another time but suffice it to say -my faith and the ONE who is in me got me through it, and my career in the medical field-nursing home industry was born out of my continuous bullying – which gave me a huge desire to help others.

Another example is a businessman who, amidst the cutthroat competition and unethical practices in his industry, chose to uphold Christian values. His integrity and trust in God’s guidance not only brought him personal peace but also earned him respect and success in the long run.

Help us to live in this truth daily, drawing strength and courage from Your presence. Guide us to be beacons of Your love and light in a world that desperately needs it. Despite his modest means, he shared whatever he had with those in need, believing that God’s love was meant to be spread far and wide.

Samuel, though affected by the drought, continued to share his meager resources, trusting in God’s provision. In a world filled with fleeting pleasures and temporary satisfactions, the Bible calls us to find our deepest joy and contentment in God. Psalm 37:4 encourages us to delight ourselves in the Lord, promising that He will fulfill the desires of our hearts. This profound truth invites us to explore what it means to be truly satisfied in Him.

Psalm 37:4teaches us that when we align our desires with God’s will, He fulfills our deepest longings. Living a Fruitful Life: God’s Commandments and Our Love

In the quiet moments of reflection, we find ourselves yearning for a life that bears fruit—a life that echoes with purpose, love, and longevity. As Christians, we seek not only to exist but to thrive, to honor the Creator who breathed life into our very beings. Let us embark on this journey together, exploring the commandments that lead to a fruitful existence, right here and now, yes – it still pertains to this very moment in time.

God’s Word – is not fleeting! It is and has been set in stone since the beginning of time – we are subject to His Word, and should we veer in a different direction, the consequences will not be rewarding, that the LORD reminds us throughout. Our actions, or “lack thereof” have resounding and rebounding repercussions. Surely – God doesn’t want to lose us and invites us to accept Him (free choice) and when we do – we will be able to partake of the “fruits” and the “rewards” of Eternal bliss with our LORD – forever!

Obeying God’s Way: Deuteronomy 5:33 reminds us to walk in the way the Lord commands, promising well-being and prolonged days in the land we inhabit. Our obedience is not mere compliance; it’s an act of trust, aligning our steps with divine wisdom.

DEAR GOD: My Joy Is You My Sweet LORD!~

In the book of Nehemiah, we find a powerful moment when the people of Israel gathered to hear the Law of Moses. Ezra, the priest, stood before them, reading and explaining the sacred text. Amidst this assembly, Nehemiah delivered a profound message: “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength” Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV).

This verse resonates across time and space, inviting us to explore its depths. Let’s together see if we can reveal its meaning, while drawing inspiration and practical wisdom for our lives today as Christians, in a world of “darkness.”

Understanding the Context

The scene unfolds in Jerusalem, during the Feast of Tabernacles. The people had returned from exile, and their hearts were tender as they listened to the Law and the Word of the LORD. Nehemiah, their governor, recognized the significance of this moment. He encouraged them not to mourn but to celebrate. Why? Because the joy of the Lord would be their strength. Our LORD is always a fortress of strength and refuge for us, His children. When we listen to His Word and follow His commandments – we have not only the position of being His “child” but one that has the overlaying protection and wisdom coming from above. It is “our joy” and we are inherently equipped with our ‘weapons’ of defense in all earthly encounters – making us “victorious” through Christ! Now that is what I count as “joy!” Amen.

The Joy of the Lord

Physical Nourishment: “Eat the fat, drink the sweet.” Nehemiah’s words remind us that God cares about our well-being. He invites us to enjoy life’s blessings—both physical and spiritual. As Christians, we can savor the richness of God’s provision without guilt. Our joy is not separate from our faith; it is an integral part of it, and one in which the LORD encourages us to partake in.
Generosity: “Send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared.” True joy overflows into acts of kindness. When we share our blessings with others, we participate in God’s joy. Whether it’s a meal, a kind word, or a helping hand, our generosity reflects His heart. Our compassion and our actions will invariably reflect Christ’ spirit and love.

Contentment: In a world filled with striving and comparison, the joy of the Lord reminds us to find contentment in Him. We don’t need to chase after fleeting pleasures; our strength lies in His presence alone!
Gratitude: Pause and reflect on the sweet moments—the laughter, the warmth of relationships, the simple pleasures. Gratitude transforms ordinary days into holy ones, and memorable comforting moments!
Community: The call to share portions emphasizes community. We are not isolated individuals; we belong to a family of believers. Our joy multiplies when we celebrate together. We are One Body in CHRIST!

Zechariah 14:9 – The Lord’s Universal Kingship

Zechariah 14:9 declares, “And the LORD shall be king over all the earth; in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.”

This verse encapsulates a powerful vision of God’s ultimate reign and unity. Let’s see if we can delve into this further and try to embrace and apply this to our lives today as Christians.

Context and Meaning:

Zechariah prophesies about a future time when God’s dominion will extend globally. It’s a day when the Lord’s Sovereignty will be universally acknowledged. The phrase “One LORD” emphasizes the unity of God. All distinctions and divisions will fade away, leaving only one true faith and worship. ALL will be ONE in the body of Christ!

Scriptural Support:

Isaiah 45:23: “I have sworn by myself, the Word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.”

By reflecting His light from within as He dwells in us, present Him in all we do and say, and in so doing – we can exemplify the LORD in ways He expects us to do as Children of God!

While the world may resist, Zechariah’s vision will ultimately come to pass. Our role is to faithfully proclaim the truth!
