For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Praising Your Name Always~
by C D Swanson~

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42, NKJV) and similarly in Matthew 26:39, He expressed His willingness to follow God’s plan despite the suffering ahead. This demonstrates ultimate obedience and trust in God’s purpose, even in moments of deep anguish.

Going through life not one of us can remain unscathed by situations that can be troubling, life changing, or circumspect of issues that surround us.  And the older one gets, the more exposure to these events is apparent.  We lose loved ones, we have to say goodbye to friends, our pets, and yet life goes on.  It is a veritable potpourri of alternating moments in our days spent on earth.

Jesus came to earth to accomplish a mission.  He came to save us and redeem us – and through the days he was here, He faced angry crowds, non-believers, religious jealousy from the “higher up” so called Bible scholars, Pharisees, Sadducees, and scorn from his own people in his own town.

Yet, His Father’s will had to be done and He obeyed willingly, lovingly, and taught us along the way. He wasn’t immune to hatred, or people wanting to harm Him.  He knew it was part of the scriptures to be fulfilled in order to save us, and to adhere to His Father’s will and purpose.

We all have a purpose, and God’s hand will be the divine course in which we should follow and acquiesce to all of His plans for us. And some of those plans can be uncomfortable because we can’t see the future or the outcome as God does. We can only trust and pray and wait.  So many things get in the way of “life.”

Whether it be selling your home due to financial strains and a dire necessity in order to survive, or perhaps some of you are going through a divorce and one is hurting because only one wanted to leave, maybe there was a diagnosis of illness suddenly revealed, for yourself or a loved one, and some of you may have recently lost a loved one and are suffocating from the grief.   God is with you through it all.  He knows your heart, your mind, your thoughts, and He is holding you up with His right hand of righteousness.

When we stay on the path of His word and follow the light and His voice, these times will not necessarily be “easier” but you will be able to endure it through His strength and His love.  Even when you can’t feel Him- he is working – and even when you can’t “see Him” He is working. Always for you, for me for us!

Never ask “why?”  Instead ask, “God strengthen me during this trial and heal my pain and heart.”  Praise Him through it all.  There is a beautiful song called “Prase His Name” I will include it in the bottom of this post.  It is so true, just as Paul did when he was in prison. He praised God and the chains fell off and the doors opened.  We can be free the same way, just praise Him through it all.

Continue to love, honor and cherish God and praise Him through it all. Your life will reflect His light, and you will be able to grow in Spirit and depth resulting in a different thought process than you had prior to “finding Christ.”

“LORD we just want to glorify You today and always, and we give You thanks for all You are and all You do,  We love you beyond comprehension, and we lift You high and exalt You always, in Jesus name Amen.”

DEAR GOD: Cleansed By Your Love~

Cleansed and Purified by LOVE...

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” –2 Corinthians 7:1

The verse from 2 Corinthians 7:1, “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God,” is a profound call to spiritual and moral purity. This passage encapsulates the essence of Christian living, urging believers to strive for holiness and to live in a manner that reflects their faith and reverence for God.

Moral Thoughts

This verse emphasizes the importance of cleansing oneself from impurities, both physical and spiritual. It suggests that true holiness involves a comprehensive purification process that affects every aspect of our being. The “promises” referred to in this verse are the assurances of God’s presence, protection, and eternal life, which should motivate believers to live righteously.

Christian Attitudes and Beliefs

Christians believe that holiness is not just an external display of piety but an internal transformation that aligns one’s heart and actions with God’s will. This transformation is a continuous process that requires dedication, self-discipline, and a deep sense of reverence for God. The fear of God mentioned in this verse is not about being afraid but about having a profound respect and awe for His majesty and authority.

Reflective Questions

  1. What are the “promises” that God has given us, and how do they inspire us to live holy lives?
  2. In what ways can we cleanse ourselves from the “filthiness of the flesh and spirit” in our daily lives?
  3. How does the fear of God influence our decisions and actions?
  4. What steps can we take to perfect holiness in our personal and communal lives?

Meditative Takeaway

Reflecting on this verse, we are reminded that holiness is a journey, not a destination. It requires constant vigilance and a willingness to examine and purify our hearts and minds. By focusing on God’s promises and maintaining a reverent fear of Him, we can strive to live lives that are pleasing to Him and reflective of His love and grace.

Closing Prayer

“Dear LORD-Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your guidance and strength. Help us to cleanse ourselves from all impurities and to strive for holiness in every aspect of our lives. Remind us of Your promises and fill us with a deep reverence for Your majesty. May our lives be a testament to Your love and grace, and may we continually seek to perfect holiness in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

Let’s together pray for a deeper understanding and reflection on the LORD’s powerful verse, and may it enhance and produce growth in the Spirit!
