And He said to them, Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”  (Luke 2:49 NKJV)

The first words we hear from Christ in the Gospel according to Luke in chapter two, verse forty-nine is  “did you  not know that  I must be about my Father’s business?”

Jesus Christ was always about on His Father’s business, or to say, His Father’s will and doctrine.  He had a purpose coming to earth as the “Son of man” — and walking among the people.  The Word became flesh and walked among us with a plan of salvation and saving the world from sin. ” And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14 KJV)

Jesus throughout His life as “Son of man” came to serve and save, and to obey His Father’s wishes and will.  His last words on the cross were, “It is finished.”  When he accomplished all that He set out to do for humanity, which is to say mankind… He  saved souls in the process.  Jesus finished that which was His Father’s plan and purpose. But up to the His last breath…He was following and doing His Father’s business/plans/purpose.

We too are part of our Father’s plan, and He has a purpose for us  as well.  We, being one with Christ, should adhere to His example by following the Father’s will, and doctrine.

We also should walk the narrow path of righteousness.  Everyday we should be “about our Father’s business” in all things.

The Father’s business could mean smiling at someone, encouraging someone going through a rough time, or comforting someone who’s grieving and lost a loved one, or a friend that needs to talk because they’re lonely, or just needs a caring ear.

It could be so many things, but most important, it means following God and His ways—which includes kindness and love.   We all should be on a path of building each other up in the Word, and His love for all of us.

Following our King of kings, and LORD of lords,  isn’t always easy.  Jesus said it Himself— many of His followers will suffer certain things along the way—however, with Him in our corner, providing His strength, and wisdom, and love, it’ll be easier to get through it all.  And from this, we will ultimately grow in Christianity, humility, and purpose of which He intended for each of us.

So, when our life, and all that we were supposed to accomplish here on earth is through, and we take our last breath going over into eternity…we’ll be able to say, “It is finished…” as the LORD opens up His loving arms to welcome us into Paradise saying, “Well done my child, well done…”

Amen.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

James 1:17 – 25 (KJV)
