DEAR GOD: You Are My Beacon & Light~

Lighthouse Sunset

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:2 (ESV)

A Beacon of Light

Psalm 27, attributed to David, is a profound expression of faith and trust in the Lord amidst adversity. It begins with a declaration of confidence: “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1 NIV)1. This opening verse sets the tone for the entire psalm, encapsulating the psalmist’s unwavering belief that God is a protective and guiding force against all fears and foes.

The psalm oscillates between expressions of fearless trust and earnest pleas for God’s presence. David speaks of enemies and war, yet he remains confident. This juxtaposition highlights a central theme: the power of faith to provide stability and courage, even when one is surrounded by threats.

Then further on, it reveals the psalmist’s deepest desire: “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life” (Psalm 27:4 NIV) David yearns not for material wealth or victory over his enemies, but for the serene and continuous communion with God. This longing to be in God’s presence, to “gaze on the beauty of the Lord,” is a testament to the psalmist’s devotion.

The latter part of the psalm is a heartfelt plea for God’s mercy and guidance. David asks not to be forsaken and prays for deliverance from his adversaries. The emotional intensity of these verses conveys a sense of vulnerability, contrasting with the earlier declarations of confidence. It is a reminder that seeking God’s face is not a one-time act but a continual process of faith and reliance on divine guidance.

Psalm 27 concludes with an exhortation to “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14 NIV) This final verse encapsulates the essence of the psalm: a call to patience and courage, affirming that trust in God is rewarded with strength and the fulfillment of His promises.

In essence, Psalm 27 is a microcosm of the spiritual journey. It captures the oscillation between confidence and doubt, presence and absence, and ultimately, the enduring faith that guides the believer through life’s tumultuous seas. It serves as a beacon of trust and devotion, illuminating the path for all who seek solace and strength in the divine.

When we place all of our trust and hope in the LORD, there isn’t anything we can’t accomplish or withstand, through Christ our LORD.  Superfluous things are non-existent – there reality is Christ, and the desire to commune with Him on a daily and intimate basis. When we ascribe to His doctrine, and His will for our lives, we get come ALIVE in His Presence and His Word.

As we take on more and more of the Word into our mind, heart, and apply it to our lives as it were, we begin to have a sense of what life “really is.” Life here on earth is fleeting. We are gone in a blink of the eye! We can die suddenly. And if so – are you confident that you will be in the Lamb’s Book Of Life?

One thing is certain – we all will physically leave this earth one day. Our flesh bodies will die, and our spiritual bodies will live on. However, when judgement day comes – the question is – will we be ready?

How’s your relationship with the LORD? Do you seek Him daily? Do you desire to be with Him exclusively for eternity? As David so passionately cries and laments in Psalm 27 – He wants to dwell in the house of the LORD forever – Do you?

“Dearest Heavenly Father, In the sanctuary of Your presence, I find light and salvation. Whom shall I fear? For You are the stronghold of my life. I come before You with a heart full of gratitude, Thanking You for the assurance that You are always nearby. In times of trouble, You protect me; You set me high upon a rock. Lord, I seek one thing—to dwell in Your house forever, to gaze upon Your beauty and to seek You in Your temple. In the quiet moments, in the chaos of life, Your presence is my constant desire. I surrender to You, O Lord, my worries and my foes. For even if friends and family forsake me, You will receive me. Teach me Your way, lead me on a straight path, despite my adversaries. I believe I will see Your goodness in the land of the living. So, I wait for You, Lord; I am strong and take heart as I wait. Thank You for being my light, my salvation, my refuge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”
Lamentations 3:22-24 (NKJV)

” Yes -Another day to thank God for all His goodness and to hope in the day, live in His Word, and follow His will for my life in all I do and say.”

God’s mercies are endless. His love for us – profoundly deep-and beyond our mortal comprehension. (John 3:16)

These verses from Lamentations resonate with a profound sense of hope and faithfulness that is central to many spiritual journeys. They reflect the enduring mercies and compassion of the Lord, which are renewed each day, affirming an unwavering faithfulness that provides solace and strength to believers.

In a similar vein, Psalm 36:5-7 speaks to the vastness of God’s love and righteousness, likening them to the heavens and the mountains, and His justice to the great deep. It is a poetic expression of the boundless nature of divine qualities.

Furthermore, Lamentations 3:22-23- verses -is a testament to the steadfast love of the Lord. Despite the afflictions and sorrows that may come, the passage offers reassurance that the Lord’s mercies prevent total despair, and His compassions are inexhaustible. It supports and reflects the love of the LORD that is all consuming and a balm to our very soul. His love is a peaceful ember that burns with warmth and compassion and concern for each of us.

His Word and voice are “heard” in verses such as Lamentations, and others like them- which offer a message of hope and reassurance.

They suggest that no matter the challenges faced, the Lord’s mercies are a wellspring of renewal and hope. The faithfulness of the Lord is constant, providing a foundation for trust and expectation of good things to come. His Word and message encourage individuals to maintain hope and to trust in the constancy of divine compassion and faithfulness of our Heavenly and Mighty Father above. And when we accept Him and his Word and His will for our lives – we will be successful in all that we endeavor to undertake, all the days of our lives.

Are you ready to thank Him today? Are You listening to His voice, and seeking His face in all you do? Well, it’s a new day-what are you waiting for?

In closing Prayer –

DEAR GOD: You Are My Lifeguard – Forever~

God Is My Lifeguard Psalm 141:8 - YouTube

The Everlasting Watch

In the quiet moments of reflection, amidst the bustling noise of life, there is a profound truth that brings comfort to the soul: Jesus is watching over us, constantly, all the days of our lives. This devotional will attempt to explore this comforting Presence, supported by verses.

Divine Vigilance

The Bible is replete with assurances of God’s watchful eye. In Genesis 28:15, God promises Jacob, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.” -This covenant, extended through Jesus, assures us of an unceasing divine presence.

Similarly, Psalm 121:8 affirms, “The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore,”– encapsulating the eternal nature of God’s guardianship.

A Personal Testament

Life is a tapestry of experiences and emotions, woven with threads of joy and sorrow. Through each season, the belief that Jesus watches over us has been my anchor. In times of triumph, His gaze has been my affirmation; in moments of despair, His sight has brought solace. This constant surveillance is not one of judgment, but of unwavering love and guidance.

Reflections on Divine Presence

The scriptures tell us that Jesus’ love is steadfast, and His watchfulness never wanes. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus reassures us, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This promise of companionship is not just for a moment or a day, but for a lifetime and beyond.

The Comfort of Constant Care

Knowing that Jesus is always with us provides a profound sense of comfort. He is all things to us -loving Presence, a royal King, a guardian angel, or lifeguard- whose eyes are filled with kindness, ready to guide us through every decision and comfort us in every trial. His watchful care is a beacon of hope in a world that can often feel uncertain and tumultuous- and at times – extremely dark!

Living Under the Watchful Eye

Living with the awareness of Jesus’ constant Presence can transform our lives. It encourages us to live with integrity, knowing that we are always in the presence of a divine and all-consuming love. It also inspires us to extend that same care and attention to others, reflecting Jesus’ love through our very own actions, and lifestyle.

As we ponder the Omnipresence of Jesus, let us take solace in the knowledge that we are never alone, and His love surrounds us all the days of our lives.

  1. How does the knowledge of Jesus’ constant presence influence your daily life?
  2. In what ways have you felt Jesus watching over and guiding you?
  3. How can we become more aware of Jesus’ presence in our lives?

“Dear Heavenly Father, we are eternally grateful for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, who watches over us day and night. May we always feel the warmth of His love and the security of His watchful eyes. Help us to live in a way that honors Your constant presence in our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.”

May I extend an open invitation for all to reflect and deepen your appreciation for the ever-present watchfulness of Jesus, and His love, and may it inspire you to seek His presence in every aspect of your lives. His grace and love are open to all and anyone, and He is waiting – always!”

DEAR GOD: Sunrise & You-Doesn’t Get Any Better Than That~

Sunrise Beach Wallpaper (54+ images)

Good Morning- Here comes another new day with God! I love the morning! Time to spend time alone with my LORD and Savior before the “world comes awake.”  Time to reflect on the goodness of the LORD and all He has done. Time to thank Him for His love, His truth, His light and giving LIFE to those who believe in Him. Time alone with the One and only forever and always – Jesus Christ! I never cease to be amazed and in awe of His magnificence or beauty.

Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

God’s love and mercy are constant and fresh every day. No matter what we have done or faced yesterday, we can always start anew with God today. He is faithful to us and will never leave us or forsake us.

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

May I encourage you to be grateful and joyful for the gift of life that God has given. Every day is a blessing from God, and we should celebrate it with praise and thanksgiving. We should also live each day with purpose and passion, knowing that God has a plan for us. And do all according to His will, not ours. And when we do so, things will invariably make sense and become clearer as to the path we should walk upon.

Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

This particular s verse above from Isaiah- assures us that God is always working in our lives, even when we don’t see it or feel it. He is able to do amazing things that we can’t imagine or comprehend. He can transform our situations and circumstances and make a way where there seems to be no way. He can bring life and hope to the dry and barren places of our hearts and souls.

Psalm 30:5 “For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”

This should automatically bring a huge amount of comfort. Because we know that God’s anger is not permanent, and His grace is everlasting. He does not hold our sins against us but forgives us and restores us. He also promises that our sorrows will not last forever but will be turned into joy. He will wipe away our tears and fill us with his peace and joy.

Ephesians 4:22-24 “to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

God challenges us to change our lives and become more like Him. We are called to leave behind our old sinful ways and habits, and to renew our minds with God’s truth and wisdom. We are also called to put on the new self, which reflects God’s character and values. We are made new in Christ, and we should live accordingly.

Have you thanked God today? Have you sat in awe of His Magnificence and His Presence in Your life? Do you have a personal relationship with Him? If not – all I can say is – don’t wait to get to know Him. Open His Book and read – and get to know the Best of all and the One and only Lord of lords and King of kings.

It will be the best thing you will ever do, and it will be the relationship of a lifetime!

“Father, God, thank You for another day, for Your love, Your Word, and Your promises, may I always be thankful for every second You grant me, and may I do all that You propose according to Your will only, in Jesus name, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: Your Will Be Done

Seek God's will in all that you do and He will show you the path to ...

Galatians 6:2- Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

While in attendance at a gathering a person was complaining non-stop about all the things wrong in her life. Going on and on, that we thought she’d never stop! We couldn’t understand the negativity with this individual- her life looked as if it were a “bed of roses” along with feel-good scenarios laced in at once.

Eventually she did stop, and we went on to speak about other issues. But I couldn’t help but notice the sadness in the person who was lamenting for ten minutes straight. But she came to an abrupt halt, as if embarrassed and then nothing but silence from her during the entire gathering.

I leaned towards her and asked “is there anything I could help you with? Seems like there is something weighing heavily on your mind and heart.”  It was as if a light went off as she nodded and smiled.

We went off to a little corner outdoors, and she began to tell me that her husband was very controlling, and emotionally abusive, and at times – he pulled her hair. But she was quick to say, “only a couple of times he pulled my hair.” He also cheated on her. And on top of all of this – she was upset to find out her youngest son smacked his girlfriend around a couple of times.

I was overwhelmed and saddened by what this poor lady was going through and felt awful that the others were rolling their eyes at her complaints. I must confess – I too was wondering why she was murmuring so much, but I felt the spirit within me saying, something is wrong here. More than meets the eye.

After a very long detailed talk I gave her a number to call. There was a person who was experienced with “trauma at homes” and she was an expert at helping woman with the exact kind of situation “Sherry” was going through. I also said, “Do you know Christ?” And although she did, she said sadly that she didn’t know Him well, or the Bible.  I had an extra Bible in my car, for such times. And I gave it to her. “Read it! Start with John 3:16 – of how much God loves us. Jesus is the only One who can help you- He will give you the strength and direct your paths.” She took the Bible and hugged me, “thank you” were the last words she said before she walked away.

Weeks after that encounter – “Sherry” reached out to thank me. Her life was getting on track. She excitedly explained that she opened her Bible as I’d suggested and read John 3:16 – Then read the entire Gospel of John and was reading the epistles of John at the moment. She gave testimony of how different she felt almost immediately when she cried out to God that night, after our initial meeting. She said – the counselor helped her- but God was the One that really was helping. She started to cry, “Thank you for helping me…thank you!”

This story is inspiring and had a good outcome. Sadly, not all stories end happy or hopeful. We as Christians need to “tune in” to others and see past the fluff and stuff that sometimes go hand-in-hand pertaining to people and what they’re actually saying.

There is a difference from “the verbal voice” versus the “inner true voice.” The outer appearance sometimes will mask the inner appearance, and I am talking about one’s soul!

I have no doubt that “Sherry” will gain even more introspection and courage as she gets into the Word and continues seeing the woman expert in domestic abuse and emotional abuse. But – God will do the majority of “healing” for her heart and soul. “Sherry” was willing to do the work-God will do the rest.

Have you ever been around someone who is complaining and think -gee I wish they’d just be quiet?

On the other side of the spectrum, have you ever heard someone going on and on about what a great life they have-and you want them to be quiet?

Truth is – both scenarios can be masked by the true voice of their soul. Overcompensating can be a sign of inner sadness too. This is where we come in as Christians and look to God for strength, wisdom and answers.

Speak to them – ask with sincerity “what’s really happening here?” Then seek the person and talk with them. God wants us to help others. Sometimes it’s not just “physical sickness” that hurts. Emotional pain is awful too!  It can tear up a person and chew them up in the process. There is never any excuse for anyone to be abused in any way – emotionally or physically. And there is never a good reason for a husband to pull hair.

Sadly, abused individuals always think it’s their fault and make excuses. This happens all the time. But help is available. Especially when we reach out to them. Give them the tools and provide loving Christian counsel.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”

Reach out to them. Help them seek God. Offer a friendly tone or ear and see where God leads you. He will always guide your paths when you ask for His help.

“Sherry” is happier these days, and it shows. Her husband is also attending classes about anger issues, along with her son. So, there is so much hope for this family going forward. Amen.

What about the others out there? Do you know any “Sherry’s?” If so, have you helped? If not – why not?

“Dear God, thank You for Your input and wisdom, for imparting the words and actions in order to help Your children, may I be Your vessel and servant all the days of my life, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Emotional abuse can include verbal assault, dominance, control, isolation, ridicule, or the use of intimate knowledge for degradation (). It targets the emotional and psychological well-being of the victim, and it is often a precursor to physical abuse. There is a high correlation between physical abuse and emotional abuse in batterer populations (), and verbal abuse early in a relationship predicts subsequent physical spousal abuse ().

If you suspect or know anyone who is going through an abusive relationship – please reach out to them. Let them know there is always help available for them.

DEAR GOD: Yes – I Will Respect All Ages~

How do I Become an Elderly Caregiver? (with pictures)

Isaiah 46:4 “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

An Aunt of mine is currently actively dying in place at her home. She has been blessed with a fine life, and at 95 years of age is ready to go home to the LORD.

My other Aunt, her sister – is 92 years of age at home aging in place and actively caring for her older sister. They’ve not been apart since they were born. Having never married, they lived with each other their entire lives. And up until just one month ago, went out daily (the 92 year old is driving her Lexus every day!) and have all their faculties in place- nothing medically wrong!  So, all in all very blessed. Very blessed indeed.

The process of watching someone die is difficult. Of course, at this age it is expected, as no one leaves here without parting from their “flesh.” But what joy to enter in heaven as the spirit goes up to the LORD, as it is promised. Amen!

I have spoken to all of the hospice nurses, who are phenomenal human beings. Thank God for their role in preparation and providing comfort and palliative care- who offer comfort to the family as well. However, sometimes people can be a little “harsh” in terms of older patients dying.

Sometimes people will disrespect an elderly patient in ways they are not even aware of.  One disrespectful way is by ignoring them when they speak. And by ignoring the patient they begin speaking to another person in the room while addressing their medical needs. I as an experienced person in the field of gerontology my entire career working in the Nursing Home Industry, have always found this frustrating and the height of insensitivity to the patient.

  • Leviticus 19:32 “Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD.”

They also seem to disregard their dignity and treat them as a non-entity. These individuals have had most of their independence stripped from them and find themselves in unfamiliar territory where workers in the nursing home are “controlling” when they eat, sleep, bathe, etc.  It’s a difficult transition.

I guess what I’m trying to convey here is. We are all God’s children, no matter our age. He loves us all. He particularly has mentioned “woe to those who take advantage of the widow and fatherless child.”  So, you can be assured He is NOT happy when people treat patients with a cavalier attitude. Nope not at all!

When you encounter an elderly individual, please know that they are not invisible, and their life is no longer useful. Instead, treat them with the respect and dignity and honor they all deserve. Recognize that most have had different roles in their lives, like spouse, mom, dad, grandparents, sister, brother, daughter and son, so on and so forth.  They are still useful and are viable until their very last breath when they are called home to their heavenly Father above.

Dignity and respect should be afforded to all individuals, regardless of age. Be humble in your approach and kind and loving as Jesus would have you do.

The next time you see an elderly person or encounter an aging family member, please remember that they are God’s children, no matter their age. And yes, they are blessed to live beyond a certain age, but that only solidifies that God still has a plan for them in their current status. That there is still unfinished work to be done, perhaps in them to reinforce their pathway to heaven. But the point is – respect them and treat them with love.

One day if you are fortunate, and God willing, – you will be the OLD person in the room. Don’t forget that, and remember God is watching!

“Father, Thank You for my aunt’s longevity, and for watching over them, I pray that You continue to watch over them both, and pray her death will be peaceful, and that the aunt left behind be comforted by Your love and knowing she will see her again one day, and I lift up all those actively dying in place at this time, for their family members to have peace and comfort, and for all those who are caring for the sick, that they have patience and respect and love for them, and for those mourning the loss of a loved one, I pray all these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: Your Water & Light Complete Me~

The Stream of Living Water

God is the source of all life and light. He created the sun, the moon, and the stars to illuminate the earth and to mark the seasons and times. He also created the sea and the sky and filled them with living creatures.

He is the fountain of life, and in His light, we see light. He gives us living water, which is His Spirit, to quench our thirst and to cleanse us from our sins.

He is the light of the world, and whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

He is the basis of all things for all things, humans, creatures, nature and otherwise. In Him we have a sanctuary and an everlasting protective armor. With Him we can accomplish things with relative ease through His power and name. Without Him we are baseless in all we endeavor, which is to say it’s an exercise in futility, we won’t be able to do anything in the way we would with Him in our lives.

His everlasting Light and His Living waters complete me as it should all of His followers and those of faith.

When you see the Light from sun, whom do you think of?

When you see the rushing moving water, who do think of?

“Dear LORD, Your Light, Your Living Water, and Your love complete me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

– Genesis 1:3
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

– Genesis 1:14-15
And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light upon the earth.” And it was so.

– Genesis 1:20
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”

– Psalm 36:9
For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.

– John 4:10
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

– John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

DEAR GOD: MY ROCK & DRINK OF LIFE~

The Lord is My Rock | My rock, Rock garden, Rock garden landscaping

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink, ‘you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10 NKJV

John 4:10 always gives me pause to reflect not only on the significance of who Christ is…but also allows me to meditate and be ever vigilant to my surroundings. That includes the “world” and the procurement of all which is reflected in the news and everywhere else, film, media, streets, worldwide.

In other words, it is a way to remind us to “be acutely aware” of who Jesus is and who “is not.” There are false teachers, and preachers about us.  And there are those who seem harmless enough, but they’re not of God.

John 7:15 -Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

There will always be good versus evil–and just the way the Spirit of God is here, so too is the spirit of evil. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are under a protective shield, and God becomes our very sanctuary and our Rock in which we can depend on and stand in unity.

We are to be wise and faithful to the LORD while on our journey in life.  As we worship God and follow His voice, we become more in tune with Him, and our discerning spirit will guide us accordingly.

He will be our “go to” for whatever we are in need of…He is always there.  Our comforter, as Jesus said, “I will send you a Comforter” and He will never leave you. (John 14:16)

Be wise and gentle, (Matthew 10:16) yet be firm in your belief and faith. Don’t let opposing views persuade you, be aware…and embrace the light always. Pray for those in the darkness and stay true to yourself, but most important—to God!  It’s a journey worth traveling when you’re on the road with Christ.

There is no better traveling companion…that’s for sure!

“Praise You Father for Your love, for Your guidance, and for Your steadfast and unconditional love towards Your children, I pray that those in the darkness will seek Your light and love, as I pray those in the light will continue to walk the path of righteousness, now and always, in Jesus precious name, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: You Say It All & You Are My All~

Jeremiah 33:6 (NLT)-

Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.

In the midst of darkness, death, and despair, the love of God is like a guiding light, leading His people to safety. This is the spirit and message of Jeremiah 33:6. The prophet received a vision from God foretelling the death, destruction, and devastation that would fall on the city.

It is important to remember that God’s love and mercy can guide us through even the most difficult times. God is with us, even when we have difficulty “hearing” at times. It’s a matter of seeking Him and taking the time to meditate and think, “what would You have me do LORD? – What is it I am supposed to be doing at this time? – How can I apply Your Word to my situation at this very moment in time?”  When we delve into His Word, and ask for guidance and His wisdom, He will respond in kind.

It may not be instantaneous, but He will provide the answers and direction according to His timetable, not ours. So, patience is an important component and aspect to finding answers.

Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

He will never disappoint, and He is why we live and breathe. He is giving us a commandment to “be strong and of good courage” in Deuteronomy 31:6, and that should be good enough for us, HIS WORD, and His promise. We are never alone!

Psalms 23:4 – Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

No matter the circumstances we never walk alone. Perhaps the most memorable example was in the book of Daniel concerning the three Hebrew children that were thrown into the furnace (Daniel 3:16-28). The LORD walked with them and protected them, when they exited the fires, not even one hair on them was singed, and their clothing was intact! Amen!

Isaiah 41:10 – Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

God continuously throughout His Holy Bible tells us and commands us not to fear, that He is with us, and He will strengthen us, and will uphold us.  How can we possibly do otherwise? If our God is telling us to be courageous, have no fear and we need to realize that He is always nearby.

Zephaniah 3:17 – The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

God’s love for us is unapparelled and surpasses anything and anyone in the Universe (that He Created) and knowing that He loves us that much (John 3:16) is the best gift of all. And along with that gift should be a strong reassurance and comfort for His children.

His Word is truth.
His Love is real.
His ways are perfect.

When you are in need of company, He is there. When you are in need of a shoulder to lean on, He is there. When you are in need of comfort, He is there. When you are in need of guidance, He is there. When you are in need of help, He is there. When you are in need of love, He is there…

Do you have Him in Your life? Do you seek Him in all you do? If not, what are you waiting for?

A life with our LORD and Savior is the only life worth living!

“Father, thank You for Your promises, love, and guidance and all You do and say, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

DEAR GOD: Help Me Help Those Who Are Broken~

7 Ways Grieving Affects Your Health

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (ESV)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

What do you do when a 97-year-old is crying that she lost her husband? How do you comfort a woman who has been married to this man who died, since she was 18 years old? How do you deal with that as a Christian while being compassionate and supportive of her needs and feelings? How can I encourage her in validating her pain, while knowing how blessed they were to have had such a long fruitful and happy life that produced, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren? How do I shield her from the “well meaning” though clueless ones who offer words like “why are you crying, he lived a long time” while she sobs out of control?

What immediately comes to my mind is Galatians 5:22–I willingly began listening to her, exhibited patience, supported her by being kind and showing her love, and offering comforting Words of the LORD, in Matthew 28:20, “…lo I am with you always, even until the end of the Age.”

Galatians5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness…

I offered these words of comfort to my aunt, “It’s okay to cry and wish he were still here. You are not being unfaithful to the LORD because you wished you had more time. You know you were blessed, but it doesn’t matter to you at this very moment, because all you are thinking about is you love him, miss him, and want even another hour with him. It’s okay to feel that. It’s okay to miss him. And people with their comments are just well-meaning wishers that don’t know what else to say…”

And that is true for anyone today reading this and mourning the loss of someone you love. Feeling as if you have been gutted like a fish on a plate and feeling as if a huge part of you died along with your loved one. Because in fact you have.  Being Christian doesn’t mean “we don’t have feelings” It means we believe and know where our loved ones are, where we are going when we die, but we still feel, and love them, and want them here with us!

This especially to those who lose people in the late years, where most are apt to say, “well he/she lived a long life” —the people who lose them already know this. What they need, is an arm around them as they sob. A tender ear and loving touch as they mourn the loss of their loved one. They need to know God is with them, and holding them up, and will get them through it. They shouldn’t feel guilty about missing them or wanting them with them.

Missing someone and wishing they hadn’t left doesn’t mean you’re not a Christian, or don’t believe in the LORD’s promises…it means that you have a heart and soul, the way God created you.

“Father, may all those that are actively mourning and grieving the loss of a loved one, no matter the age or circumstance, be comforted by Your Words and love, and Your promises, may they be filled with Your peace and wisdom, and the assurance that they will see their loved ones again one day, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
