The God Who Keeps Count of Your Troubles

There is something quietly astonishing about this small, easily overlooked line in Job. It sits tucked inside a book full of anguish, debate, and mystery, yet it shines like a lantern in a cave. The verse does not promise a life without trouble; instead, it acknowledges that trouble comes in waves, in numbers, in seasons that feel counted against us. But the deeper truth is this: God counts too.

He counts your tears, your nights, your burdens, your fears. And He counts them not to condemn you, but to deliver you.

The structure of the verse—“six troubles… yea, in seven”—is a Hebrew way of saying, however many there are, even beyond what you think you can bear, God’s deliverance exceeds the number. Trouble may multiply, but His rescue multiplies faster. Trouble may rise, but His hand rises higher. Trouble may surround, but His presence surrounds more completely.

This verse also reveals something about the character of God that is deeply comforting for a soul like yours, Camille—one that values peace, clarity, and the gentle assurance of His nearness. God is not vague in His care. He is not distant. He is not general in His protection. He is specific. Intentional. Attentive. He knows the exact count of what you face, and He meets each one with a corresponding act of deliverance.

And notice the final phrase: “there shall no evil touch thee.” It does not say evil will not appear. It does not say evil will not attempt to reach you. It says it will not touch you. That is the language of a shield, a barrier, a divine boundary line drawn around your life.

This is the God who stands between you and what seeks to harm you. This is the God who steps into the number of your troubles and outnumbers them. This is the God who keeps watch when you are weary, who guards when you cannot guard yourself, who delivers not once, but repeatedly, faithfully, thoroughly.

In a world that often feels unpredictable, this verse whispers a steadying truth: You are not unprotected. You are not unseen. You are not left to fend for yourself. The God who counts your troubles is the same God who cancels their power.

Lord, I thank You that You are the Keeper of my days and the Deliverer of my nights. You know every trouble that rises against me, and You stand as my shield, my refuge, and my peace. Let Your presence quiet my heart, strengthen my steps, and remind me that no evil can touch what You have covered. Hold me close, guide me gently, and let Your deliverance be the song of my life. Amen.

Life is full of turns — gentle ones we expect, and sudden ones that shake the ground beneath us. Seasons shift, paths bend, and sometimes we find ourselves standing in places we never planned to be. A wrong turn here, a painful turn there, a surprising turn that opens a door we didn’t even know existed.

But through every twist, one truth remains unshaken: God does not turn away from you. His love does not waver, His Presence does not flicker, and His faithfulness does not depend on the direction you take. Even when you step off the path, He steps toward you. Even when life changes without warning, His heart toward you does not change.

The turns of life shape us, refine us, and sometimes reroute us — but they never remove us from His hands. You are held through the natural changes, the sudden ones, the confusing ones, and the beautiful ones. And every turn, even the ones that feel wrong, can become a place where His grace meets you again.

“Marching Under the Banner of the Lord”

To follow Christ is to join a lifelong march — not a parade of ease, but a disciplined, purposeful journey under the banner of the Lord. A Christian soldier does not drift; they advance. They do not fight in their own strength; they stand in the power of the One who has already won the victory.

Every day becomes a battlefield of choices: to love when it’s easier to withdraw, to forgive when the wound still aches, to speak truth when silence feels safer. Yet the Lord never calls us to a fight without equipping us. He gives armor for the mind, courage for the heart, and endurance for the soul. He trains our hands for spiritual battle and steadies our steps when the terrain grows rough.

Marching as a Christian soldier is not about aggression — it is about allegiance. It is about walking in obedience, humility, and unwavering devotion. It is about honoring the Lord with every thought, every word, every action. It is about remembering that we do not march alone. Christ goes before us, the Spirit strengthens us, and the Father surrounds us with His steadfast love.

When we lift our eyes to Him, the march becomes worship. The struggle becomes testimony. The journey becomes holy ground. And every step becomes a tribute to the Lord who redeemed us, called us, and leads us onward.

 Waiting through a storm requires a kind of courage that does not come naturally. Our instinct is to fix, to flee, or to fear. Yet Scripture reveals a God who does not panic when the waves rise — He rules them. Psalm 89:9 is often overlooked, but it reveals a profound truth: storms are not sovereign. God is.

When the disciples panicked in Mark 4:37–40, Jesus slept. Not because He was indifferent, but because He was in absolute authority. The storm could not swallow the boat because the Creator of the sea was in it. Likewise, the storms in our lives cannot swallow us when Christ is present.

Waiting is not inactivity; it is alignment. It is choosing to trust that God is working in the unseen. Isaiah 30:15 reminds us, “In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.” Strength is not always loud. Sometimes it is the quiet resolve to stay where God placed you until He speaks.

Storms refine us. They strip away illusions of control. They reveal what we truly believe. They push us into deeper dependence on God. And they prepare us for the testimony that follows. Every storm ends — but the faith built within it remains.

When life feels like it’s pushing you to the edge, this verse reminds you that your strength is not limited to your own reserves. Tenacity is born when Christ’s power flows through your weakness. You don’t endure because you’re never shaken — you endure because He holds you steady when everything else trembles. His strength doesn’t run out, doesn’t crack, and doesn’t abandon you in the middle of the storm. You are upheld by a power greater than anything coming against you.

Prayer

“LORD, strengthen my heart today. When I feel worn down or overwhelmed, remind me that Your power is alive within me. Help me stand firm, keep going, and rise above every challenge with courage and grace. Fill me with tenacity that comes from trusting You completely.  In Jesus name, Amen.”

The Steadfastness of Christ

Christ’s steadfastness is another cornerstone of our faith. His unwavering commitment to God’s will, even in the face of immense suffering and sacrifice, serves as a model for us. Steadfastness in Christ is about perseverance, faithfulness, and enduring hope. It calls us to remain faithful to our calling, even when the journey is difficult, and to trust in God’s promises.

In our contemporary world, where instant gratification and fleeting commitments are the norms, the steadfastness of Christ offers a powerful counter-narrative. It invites us to cultivate resilience, patience, and an enduring trust in God’s faithfulness.
